EARNING EXPERIENCE
Experience Points & Advancement
Character progression in Seyruun is designed to reflect both narrative growth and mechanical advancement. Unlike simple level-based systems, experience in Seyruun follows a World of Darkness structure, allowing characters to evolve organically based on their decisions, roleplay, and mythic journeys.

Earning Experience
XP is awarded by Storytellers at the end of sessions, arcs, or major in-character events. XP rewards are based on a character's engagement with the world, their internal development, and how effectively they contribute to the overarching story.

Standard XP Awards Table
XP should never be a grind. It should reward rich storytelling, commitment to character, and creative contribution to the world.

Spending Experience
XP may be spent to improve Attributes, Skills, Disciplines, Merits, and other character capabilities. These improvements must be justified through in-character action, training, or spiritual development.
Advancement is not automatic. Players must justify their purchases with RP, story scenes, or training downtime.

Justifying XP Use in Roleplay
You cannot simply purchase dots. You must narrate your journey, show your growth, and tie your development into the world’s mythos. Some examples:

-
Gaining a dot of Intelligence might involve studying under a renowned loremaster of Miharu.
-
Raising your Divinity (Aasimar Discipline) might require a vision quest in Elysianna’s Garden.
-
Unlocking a new Merit like "Status: Elysian Court" would involve performing a service that earns political favor.

These roleplay elements can take place during sessions, downtime scenes, or narrative journals. XP use should always feel earned and personal.

Long-Term Advancement Milestones
Over time, the XP you accumulate defines your legend. Here’s how total XP might reflect your status in the world:
These ranks don’t change gameplay directly but serve as narrative milestones for roleplay recognition.

Optional: Fame, Renown & Legend Points
These optional Storyteller tools may be used for public figures:

-
Fame (1–5): Social renown or visibility within a region or culture
-
Renown (1–5): Recognition for deeds tied to a specific trait (Valor, Wisdom, Mercy, etc.)
-
Legend Points: A pool used to alter fate or narrative moments once per arc (see Fate mechanics)

These systems can tie into experience awards and justify bonus Merits or special story privileges.

Experience in Seyruun is not just mechanical, it is a storytelling contract. Every dot you earn should reflect a moment, a cost, and a mark upon the world’s unfolding myth.
